When you’re living and traveling in a converted cargo trailer, every piece of equipment needs to earn its place. Space is limited, electricity is precious, and we prefer products that can serve more than one purpose. That’s why we were excited when FLEXTAIL sent us their MAX BLAST 200H to test during our summer camping adventures in New Mexico.
This compact, rechargeable blower promises powerful airflow in a package small enough to carry just about anywhere. But could something this small actually replace several pieces of equipment we normally use around camp?
We decided to find out.
Putting the Flextail MAX BLAST 200H to Work
Our first real opportunity to demonstrate the Flextail MAX BLAST 200H came during our Free to Wander adventure at Cebolla Mesa Campground, near Questa, New Mexico.
After a day exploring the Rio Grande Gorge, Cupcake needed to dry her hair. Normally, that would mean using a conventional hair dryer. That can consume a considerable amount of electricity from our portable power station.
Instead, we pulled out the Flextail MAX BLAST 200H.
Despite its compact size, the little blower delivered an impressive amount of airflow. Cupcake was able to use it to dry her hair right outside our cargo trailer, without plugging a high-wattage hair dryer into our Bluetti power station.
For anyone who enjoys dispersed camping or boondocking, that’s a pretty useful advantage.
More Than Just a Hair Dryer
While drying hair was one of our more unusual tests, the Flextail MAX BLAST 200H has several other practical applications around camp.
Its concentrated airflow makes it useful for clearing dust and debris from camping equipment, cleaning hard-to-reach areas and helping dry damp gear. It can also help get a campfire going by directing air toward the coals.
The blower features a rechargeable lithium battery, USB-C charging, an efficient brushless motor and adjustable airflow. Its cordless design means you can take it anywhere without searching for an electrical outlet.
For us, that versatility is particularly appealing. Rather than carrying several different tools, we can keep one compact blower in the trailer for a variety of everyday tasks.
Is It Worth Carrying?
We aren’t interested in filling our trailer with gadgets that look impressive but rarely get used. Our goal has always been to travel lighter, spend less and make the most of the equipment we already have.
The Flextail MAX BLAST 200H fits nicely into that philosophy.
Its small size makes storage easy, and its rechargeable battery gives us another option for completing everyday tasks without relying on our larger power stations.
Our experience using it at Cebolla Mesa demonstrated just how useful a little cordless blower can be when you’re camping miles from the nearest electrical hookup.
