Moqui Cave and a Utah Ghostown!

Our recent visit to southern Utah was amazing! Not only did we visit Moqui Cave and a Utah Ghostown, we also hiked Wire Mesa Trail near Zion National Park!. Moqui Cave is located about 20 miles north of Kenab, Utah and about 20 minutes east of the east entrance to Zion National Park.

It’s a very cool stop with lots of information about the history of the cave and the people who have used the cave recently and over the past thousands of years. Sand caves is just south of Moqui Cave and is a very interesting place. The caves are about 60+ feet above the ground on the site of a sandstone formation, so you’ll have to climb and scramble your way up. You’ll be rewarded with incredibly formed hollows in the site of the hill that we haven’t seen anywhere else!

After that we made our way to Wire Mesa Trail and found some of the most amazing scenery we’ve seen around Zion National Park. Not far from there you’ll find the ghost town of Grafton, Utah. It was abandoned just over 100 years ago, but the area has been used in numerous movies including “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” from the 1970s! Once you’ve seen the area you’ll realize there is something very familiar about it! It’s a great place to visit and our day was topped of by a delicious stop at Cafe Soleil just outside the south entrance to Zion National Park. There we had one of the most delicious brownies we’ve ever had before – make sure to stop in the next time you’re at Zion!

Thanks for watching!
