Change is never easy, but it is part of life. Sometimes it’s scary, as when one starts a new job in another state, far from friends and family. But along with being scary, it can also be exciting. It just depends on how you chose to react to the change.

Cupcake and I find ourselves at the gate to a new path in our lives. We look back at the last 8 years of our lives and have amazing memories. The support of friends and family has been wonderful and knowing that will never change makes opening the gate infinitely easier.
I’ve noticed my thought process has started to change over the past few months. After making the choice with Cupcake to quit our jobs, sell our home and do things differently than the accepted “norm”, searching out our new path has been enjoyable and exciting. Even though we still have specific financial responsibilities, the new path opens up opportunities we never allowed ourselves to consider before.
We open the gate with new hope and new dreams. We are thankful for all we have together and want to share our journey with you. Even after a lifetime of life experience, work and struggle, we (obviously) still have a lot to learn and are always open to suggestions and new experiences.
Fortunately, we both grew up in Southwest Louisiana and loved being outside. We learned to fish, hunt, camp and be happy getting dirty and dealing with a little discomfort. That should help us deal with rainy Tennessee days, cold Montana nights and Rocky Mountain winds. It will also make us appreciate majestic rock formations at Moab, the night sky in Monument Valley, and views along the Appalachian Trail even more.
Cupcake adores her four amazing sons and is proud they’re all happy and healthy and living wonderful lives of their own. I am lucky enough to have the most amazing little girl in the world, and while I don’t get to see her enough, I am just happy she is in the world. We hope they all know we love them very much and start this journey with our hearts full.
Again, thank you to our family and friends who encouraged us to follow this dream (you know who you are)! The road awaits!
