We recently finished building our 256 square foot tiny cabin, but there just wasn’t enough space for a bathroom. This video covers our Off-Grid Cabin Bathroom build which we added under the cabin (the cabin is 8 feet off the ground). It also includes a compost toilet, shower, and lots of storage.
We currently heat our water with an immersion heater then use our Reliance Shower. It works great, but we’ll be adding an on demand hot water system (with propane) in the near future. Our shower is 32×32 and we’re using the shower base we used in our cargo trailer conversion. Cornbread built a cabinet to house a 5 gallon bucket we’re using as a compost toilet and we haven’t had any issues.
The shower also includes a small closet space for clothes and a cabinet to house necessities (toilet paper, tooth brush, etc.). We’ll also add a window to the space in the near future. We are in a flood zone, so building at ground level wasn’t a great option. However, we can easily remove the walls of the bathroom to minimize resistance in the event of a flood concern. We don’t foresee an issue with the cabin, so we can easily rebuild the bathroom if it is damaged.
We have a lot more planned in the coming months, including adding a wrap around deck, building a porch cover and more! Keep watching for more of our builds! We’re planning a trip up the east coast in late Spring and can’t wait! Plus we’re heading to Havasupai in Arizona for an amazing experience in the Grand Canyon – watch for that soon!
